In 2013, at least seven people  besides me who consigned goods to Camelback Consign & Design (CCD) subsequently posted allegations of breach of contract on the websites of Yelp, Google & the BBB.

Updated: 4/9/14

For more details, see the blog posts at the bottom of the page.

On my behalf, between July 9 and October 9, 2013, CCD reported selling a little over $15,000 in antiques and fine furniture. Thereafter, it failed to return or reimburse me for approximately $20,000 in goods. The total value of items either not returned or paid for is about $35,000. Per my CCD contract, I should have received $22,750 (65%). I received an initial check on Sept. 13th, a month late. It was returned non-sufficient funds. On Dec 5th, after a call from Call 12 for Action, CCD paid me $2200 to make that check good. I am still owed > $20,000.

The BBB.org recently reduced CCD’s business rating to F on a scale of A+ to F, at least in part because of such business practices as I described above.

BBB F-bombs Camelback Consign & Design

Parasitic “business” activities impoverish consumers. (After all, I am a consumer, too.) The financial loss to consumers means that there is less money invested in businesses that actually contribute to the local economy. When parasites proliferate unchecked, the viability of the systems they pillage can be destroyed. This applies to eco-systems, our bodies, and to economies.

The cost of redress: police time, legal efforts by the Attorney General’s office, and the courts is eventually shared by all taxpayers. Do you imagine that CCD is paying taxes on misappropriated assets?

Also look for the Channel 5 article about CCD: Proceed cautiously with any consignment store. The current intro looks like this...

DON'T KID YOURSELF.
Mike Burns wasn't born yesterday. He wasn't born on the Fourth of July, either. NOPE. Mike Burns was born on 9/11 in 1952.
He was destined.
Don't forget to tip a hat to Ms. Indispensable, Vera Manuz, either. Where would Mike be without her?

I don't know if the truth will set you free. But fuss loud enough with a big 'nough bunch a friends and I swear folks 'll do near anything to get you to shut up. Fast as they can.
