Story is in today's paper. Your blog is mentioned prominently in the story. Thanks for all of your help. Here is a link:

Two police reports and some heretofore unpublished information.

Report #1 / 3-31-2014:

From the POLICE REPORT (#1) record. For the record.

"ELJUANA RETURNED TO CAMELBACK CONSIGN & DESIGN ON SUNDAY AT NOON WAITED FOR TWO HOURS, UNTIL 2:00 PM FOR MIKE TO GIVE HER BACK HER PROPERTY. BUT MIKE FAILED TO RETURN ANY OF THE ITEMS.

"WHILE ELJUANA WAITED FOR MIKE TO SHOW UP WITH HER PROPERTY SHE STATE A MALE WHO IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS (INVESTIGATIVE LEAD-1) NORM, MIKE'S PARTNER IN THE ART DEAL TOLD HER HE KNEW ALL ABOUT HER AND STATED WHERE SHE LIVED AND OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT HER ONLY MIKE WHOULD KNOW. ELJUANA HAD NEVER HEARD OF NORM BEFORE AND DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS ANY PARTNERS INVOLVED IN THE SALE OF HER PAINTINGS. AS SHE LEFT THE PROPERTY, SHE WROTE DOWN THE LICENSE PLATE TO NORMS CAR A BMW BEARING AZ PLATE 694SYJ. THE LICENSE PLATE IS REGISTERED TO NORMAN DWAYNE WOODMANSEE.

"ELJUANA WANTED TO FILE A POLICE REPORT WITH THE PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THIS SITUATION BECAUSE SHE BELIEVES MIKE HAD STOLEN HER PAINTINGS THROUGH FRAUDULENT MEANS AND WILL NOT RETURN THE ITEMS OR GIVE HER THE PROCEEDS FROM THE ALLEGED SALE OF THE PAINTINGS."

Eljuana was QUITE fortunate. When I tried to get the police to write a report on the theft of my items and the failure to pay me the proceeds from reported sales, in October of the previous year, they just refused. "It's a civil matter," I was told. "We can't do anything."

Moreover, for reasons that remain a mystery to me, the Arizona Republic picked up her story and ran with it. To my delight.

The fact that it completely ignored my plight and the plight of other victims with similar stories - like that of Mr. Lossi, covered in Report #2 below - with nearly identical characteristics leaves me puzzled and even a bit disgusted. After all, of late virtually every day during the TV news, I see a segment featuring Veronica Sanchez talking about how Call 12 for Action will take on the big fish to help protect the small ones, or something along those lines.

Who is Mike's self-described partner, Norman Dwayne Woodmansee, in the art deal that allegedly turned into attempted art theft?

Or what?

UPDATE...

It appears that Norman Dwayne Woodmansee is a local and presumably successful businessman, active in real estate.

That might explain where (some of) the $35,000 came from that went into Mike Burns's pocket. Anglen's article doesn't clarify how much the art picker, Joe Michaels, paid Burns out of his own pocket. The article states:

"(Joe) Michaels confirmed telling Levine that he brought at least one other investor into the deal and that the investor gave Burns the money. According to the story Michaels told, Burns sold the painting and never paid the investors."
