THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER SOB STORY.
THIS IS THE STORY OF WHAT ONE SOB DID
TO SOMEONE WHO FORMERLY WORKED FOR
SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS OF ALABAMA.
IF IT COULD HAPPEN TO HER
IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU.
UNLESS THE LAWS
ARE CHANGED.
Courtney Chamberlin Taylor submitted the following complaint to the Attorney General a few months back. A shorter form of this story appears in the post, Complaints, Complaints, Complaints > #15.
To ensure the widest possible visibility, I took the liberty of transcribing Courtney's handwritten complaint form. All three pages of that complaint will be found below so that you can be check the quality of the transcription, as needed.
I have never met Courtney Taylor. She found my blog and contacted me through it.
We have periodically communicated by email. Courtney previously worked in Washington D.C., for Senator Sessions of Alabama. Courtney's ex- now works for Arizona Senator Jeff Flake. Neither fact, it seems, has spared her from the miseries described below nor enabled her to obtain any form of justice or recompense.
I should add that on the very day I was retrieving what I could from Camelback Consign & Design, I saw many unopened boxes labeled as fragile with the names of various birds, in the back area beside my own items. Later, I would learn that those Dorothy Doughty designed porcelain birds belonged to Courtney Taylor. They have not been recovered.

Consumer Complaint Form Continued
I have been victimized by Mike Burns, owner of Camelback
Consign & Design, quite recently, and the entire avoidable situation has
left me traumatized.
In October of 2013, I consigned highly valuable family
antiques and collectibles w/ Mike Burns, and painfully regret the decision. At
first, Mr. Burns was the nicest guy when it came to removing the items from my
recently passed (Oct 2013) grandmother’s apartment at La Sienna and my house,
as I was going through a divorce at the time.
Mr. Burns promised not to sell one piece until we’d
sat down, discussed each line items, & agreed upon the pricing. Well, I
could never get him to commit to sitting down w/me to discuss the value(s) of
the items. He always had an excuse, lie or story about why we could not move
forward.
The beginning of 2014, I borrowed money for a plane ticket,
hired more movers, rented a moving truck & paid Mike Burns a visit at his
shop. Immediately after entering, I saw a lot of my stuff w/prices displayed as
well as “sold” signs.
I couldn't believe it! I was horrified. Even though I was
able to recover some items, the majority is still missing. While I did call the
police who did respond onsite @ Mr. Burns’ shop, they did absolutely nothing
except tell me to hire a lawyer.
Last I checked, theft of personal property is unlawful, why
is this crook repeatedly allowed to get away with committing illegal acts that
victimize Mr. Burns’ clients?
In any event, during this “surprise ambush, Jan. 2014”), Mr.
Burns proceeded to tell me the rest of my property was offsite at another
storage location or at “Brinks”… some kind of highly secure storage venue. I
offered to take my movers and truck to the offsite storage location yet he
refused to tell me the address. Instead he promised his movers were bringing my
stuff and that he’d pick up my sterling silver at Brinks as well as the 17th
century dining chairs (8) he sold to a “friend”.
I was never informed for how much the chairs sold for, saw a
dime after these items were sold, nor did I ever agree to sell them because Mr.
Burns could never make the time to discuss pricing.
For five consecutive days, I stayed at a hotel in Phoenix
every day going back to Mr. Burns’ store, hoping against hope Mr. Burns would
make good on his promise and return my items. I literally begged him for my
stuff, tears pouring down my face, sitting at his shop all day, all night until
1:00 am – 2:00 am, some nights. I finally realized that I was powerless - - he
did not care of my circumstance or that I came all the way back to Arizona to
claim what is rightfully mine because he is a predator & crook.
There never were movers allegedly bringing the rest of my
property… Mike Burns was prepared to sit it out with me until would just go
away, which I finally did. I had no choice at the time. I had to go back to
Alabama and start a new life and find a job after going through divorce &
losing my grandmother.
Following multiple losses I had no choice but to move back
to my home state of AL and continually call and email Mr. Burns. Not only was
he at many time unresponsive but he knew he “had me over a barrel”, as he’d
also volunteered to have his “professional movers” drive my personal furniture
(not consigned) from Arizona to Alabama. Six weeks later I was still sleeping
on a blow-up mattress with not one piece of furniture in my rental house. I
finally was able to get in touch with one of his “professional movers” who
after them $7K, delivered roughly 60% of my furniture. Yes, this situation is
confusing and convoluted. In conclusions, Mike burns continues to possess my
antiques, collectibles as was as the furniture items (I) NEVER agreed to
consign.
Attached is the manifest of items /property Mr. Burns either
has in his custody and is unwilling to relinquish or has sold and is unwilling
to compensate me for my portion.
Also attached are photos with corresponding reference
numbers of most of my items, copies of emails I was copied on w/regard to the
media, ABC, Channel 15, Joe Ducey, has run exposing Mike Burns, owner of
Camelback Consign & Design, as a perpetrator who preys on victims.
At your earliest convenience, please respond and state what
the attorney general intends to do about these egregious acts Mike Burns has
committed against me and countless number of other victims. It is AG Horne’s
civil duty to protect innocent victims and to prevent this unfortunate,
traumatic sequence of event to occur again.
Please contact me with questions via email @ c.chamberlen@gmail.com or via cell at

Thank you,
Courtney Taylor
